You can't please everyone. Whilst Ludmila is raising her Kir Royale to the ceiling and fist-pumping to 'Highway to Hell', her Aunty is excusing herself to find the sweet solace of a bathroom cubicle. How about when you send out the invitations, you ask for feedback on your guest's favorite music? That way, if people care enough about the music, they will respond. And if they don't, they can't complain!
Weddings are a time for joy and celebration and so perhaps leave your screechy metal-core and beautiful but melancholic synth ballads at home for your own enjoyment. Unless of course you have a tiny wedding planned and you all dig the same kind of music trip. But if you are like most people, you are sure to have a multi-generational guest list, all of whom like different styles of music. You can't please everyone.
It's all about the pace of the day. Start your day off with chilled out, feel good vibes from soul legends such as Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. Why not hire an Disk Jockey from Street Beatz DJ & Entertainment Group to add a special element to your day and give your guests something to talk about? Street Beatz DJ's are usually experts at selecting the most popular classic covers from across the decades that all of your guests will appreciate.
In our experience, the party really gets started after the Bride and Groom's first dance. This will typically be a romantic song that has sentimental meaning to them and the guests can simply congregate around them and swoon at how cute and happy they look. Be sure to book a good DJ with a good reputation; there are too many so called DJs these days that think they can show up and plug in their MP3 player, leave it on shuffle all evening and expect to be paid handsomely for their hard work. The best DJs are able to read the mood of the crowd and adapt their playlist accordingly. They will have a wide selection of music and will get the decibel level at the perfect volume for the size of your venue. If you need recommendations in the Yorkshire area, please contact us and we would be happy to help.
Then come the party bangers! However discerning you think your musical taste is, chart hits are chart hits for a reason: they appeal to the majority of regular folks. Dance the night away with the obligatory 80s rock ballads, Dirty Dancing favorite's and pop royalty Beyoncé, Britney etc. etc. I don't care if you still have that poster up of Eminem from 1998, swear-y rap will not go down well at a wedding. The friend's of the Bride and Groom tend to have a similar taste in music and so to book a more niche live band if that's your bag would be a great way to break up the evening and get a slice of your favorite genre whilst not forgetting that to many people (shockingly to us musicians and music lovers alike) that music is just background noise. In the main, your guests just want to hear things they recognize which will make them more likely to have a little boogie if the mood takes them.
